Mid-Century Metal & Glass Pendant Lamp, 1960s

About the Item

Imposing mid-century pendant lamp from Italy. A classic yet modern design. The convex curves of the upper metal shade are set off with a perforation. The fine lines of perforations shine out when the lamp is on, adding texture to the shade. The lower shade is suspended in the upper shade and has a large opening in the center in which a diffuser of thick, clear textured glass lies. The canopy is intricately designed in the formal language of the luminaire. The cable is strain-relieved in loops. The decorative sheathing of the supporting steel cable with white beads is striking. The designer or manufacturer could not yet be determined. The design language and details are reminiscent of designs by Tobia Scarpa. Furthermore, the materiality and workmanship is very high quality, as known from Italian lamps of the time.
