Pair Large 1970s Italian Venetian Glass Gilt 24-Bulb Belle Epoque Chandeliers

About the Item

An outrageous pair of Venetian glass chandeliers of large proportions hand painted with gold and black decoration. A fantastic opportunity to buy a pair of flamboyant chandeliers, bought from a grand hotel foyer on the south coast of England. Comprising 24 incised polished aluminium arms radiating from the centre, each supporting a frosted glass stylized flower, from which hang 6 delicate drops. The chandelier is finished underneath by a glass bowl with black and gold decoration, and are hung from sturdy welded black Japanned chains. Currently fitted with forty-eight UK and European 3.6 watt LED light bulbs. Sympathetically cleaned, polished and electrically tested. There is a petal missing off one of the flowers, and a small crack on one of the inner flowers (see last image), but other than that little bit of damage, they are in wonderful condition.

This stunning 1970s American Lucite ribbon and brass chandelier comprises of U-shaped thick bands of cascading Lucite in different lengths that are suspended from a chrome frame with brass fixings. The large Lucite is illuminated by four bulbs at its centre, hung from a chain, which is attached to a ceiling rose. There is no maker's mark, however the chandelier is similar in style to those designed by Karl Springer or Charles Hollis Jones. There is a sticker inside the ceiling rose for Underwriters Laboratories Inc, a global safety science company headquartered in Northbrook, Illinois.
