Pair of Richard Riemerschmid Pendant Lamps Chandeliers Art Nouveau, Germany 1920

About the Item

A pair of extraordinary Art Nouveau chandeliers made of brass with long brass rods. The chandeliers were designed by the Munich Art Nouveau designer Richard Riemerschmid. Until recently, both chandeliers were owned by the Riemerschmid family. The frame, pole and canopy are made entirely of brass. Each chandelier has 6 arms in the shape of a leaf. Very good vintage condition, no damage. No dents and nothing bent. Nice light patina with occasional oxidized spots on the brass. Suitable for all living areas and very decorative. Both chandeliers have 6 arms, each with E27 socket for up to 60 W. Fully functional. Works with 220V and 110V. Wiring in order and suitable for all countries. Lights are shipped without bulbs. Height: 35,4"/90cm Diameter: 15,0"/38cm Canopy diameter: 3,15"/8cm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Richard Riemerschmid was a German architect, designer, university lecturer and one of the most important artists of Art Nouveau. In 1897 he co-founded the Vereinigte Werkstätten für Kunst im Handwerk and in 1907 the Deutscher Werkbund. As a pioneer of the modern movement "Arts and Crafts" – influenced by the English Arts and Crafts Movement – he designed not only buildings but also furniture, wallpaper, fabrics and glass objects.
