Period French Empire Crystal and Gilt Bronze Chandelier

About the Item

An early 19th century period French Empire chandelier in crystal and gilded bronze. The typical basket form surrounds a central shaft, the top of which is decorated with gilded palmettes and terminates in four curved supports to the central corona. The gilded corona features alternate decorative features representing climbing goats and cornucopia. Six gilded arms stem from the central corona. Chains of graduated almond shaped crystals Cascade from the top to the corona and further down to a small crystal ring.
