About the Item

Sculptural and highly decorative two-tier light fixtures. The peacock has, since ancient times, been regarded as an animal with many positive and even healing characteristics. And that has inspired many artist and designers through all times and up until today. Looking at the past circa hundred years the peacock was first integrated in the Art Nouveau style. The growing back of feathers falling out in that period was associated with 'rebirth' and 'the eternal circle of life'. In the Art Deco period that followed it was the colorfulness and the symmetry of the peacocks feathers that was often depicted in a more stylized way. In this day and age, the peacock obviously still has those qualities (and many more), but now the focus would be more on spiritual enlightenment in the sense of people showing their 'true colors' and being empowered by getting to the core of who they are. Each individual may attribute different qualities to a symbol such as the peacock in this wonderful work of lighting art.
