Very Large Silver Leafed Carved Wood French Eighteen-Light Chandelier

Buyer Protection Guaranteed

This very large and monumentally scaled pricket light fixture was made in France in the 18th century and over the years it has had some newer parts made and added but is essentially as it was made. The shaft and candle bobeche are carved wood and have been gessoes and silver leafed while all the arms are made from forged Iron. Between each arm a curved iron bar holds a swinging carved wood and silver leafed tassel creating movement and whimsy. The leaf is applied onto a red ground so that the rub thru areas is rich and warm. The major decorative carving on the shaft is of large acanthus leaves growing upwards, as well as egg and dart borders, raised ring turnings and reading. Designed to lower on a pulley and lit by large pillar candles this fixture can be surface wired if a customer desires but is currently as found in Paris. As the fixture is designed to disassemble the piece is relatively easy to transport, install and complete electrical connection.
