Vintage Maria Theresa Chandelier
About the Item
This type of chandelier is identified and named after the 18th century Empress of Austria, who in the late 18th Century had her palace filled with these Bohemian crystal chandeliers. This small-scale early twentieth-century Maria Theresa-style crystal chandelier has those characteristics. It has a stunning birdcage gold painted brass skeleton encased in a crystal frame decked with strands of faceted cut crystal. The motif continues with scalloped crystal prisms and scalloped crystal bobeches. The bountiful amount of crystal parts and prisms capture and reflect the light of candle bulbs beautifully. This elegant chandelier is perfect for a traditional home, a contemporary city condo, or a modern loft. The small scale makes it perfect for short ceilings. Wherever it resides, it will surely add the same grandeur and elegance that the Empress herself demanded!
