Lamp said to Carcel system mounted on China vase in Canton XIXth century. Bronze frame. This Carcel mechanism bears the name of its inventor Guillaume Carcel who, in 1800, developed his oil lamp (of rapeseed, for example) comprising a suction-repressing pump driven by a clockwork motor, which ensured the constant supply of the wick.
