RCA Victor "On Air" Lighted Recording Sign

About

When radio and television stations were creating live programs, they had to have a signal to let one know that they were rolling, and not to interrupt. The finest "on air" warning lights were made by RCA Victor from the 1930s. The body is cast and brushed aluminium, with stylized "speed stripes" on the sides. The face is solid glass, with raised lettering. The original lighting inside was a Lumiline bulb, which are no longer available. I have replaced it with two small candelabra sockets, with red painted bulbs. New wiring and an in line switch were also added. The lamp looks great and displays wonderfully.
