About the Item

This is a beautiful PAIR of glass conical Lampshades, original to the Art Deco period. These glass lamp shades are conical in shape. They are frosted from the fitting end through about 75% of the shade height, with the outer 25% of the cone being clear glass The hole diameter at the fixing end is 1~1/16 inches diameter suitable for a standard bayonet lamp fixing. We have additional pairs of these lamp shades listed.

This is a very good hand-blown, English mid-Georgian Jelly glass, dating to the last quarter of the 18th century, circa 1780. These glasses are very collectable. It is made from English lead glass which is relatively heavy and has a soft grey colour. The glass has a bell bowl above a flattened cushion knop which forms a rudimentary stem. The stem leads to a conical foot having a rough snapped off pontil mark to the underside. There are no chips, cracks or any evidence of restoration.
