About the Item

A lovely light for hallways and entrances. A hand blown Venetian glass lantern, attributed to Seguso. It casts a beautiful rippling light pattern, like a fishing net, or the reflection of rippling water, on surrounding surfaces. The glass color is Laguna Green - the same shade as the waters of the Venice canals. The total drop from ceiling to tip, including chain and ceiling cap, 55 cm or 21.65 inches, adjustable by adding come chain in the style of your choice between the two original hooks. The lantern has a clear, pale green tone and sits inside a painted gold forged iron cage. It carries an original bakelite bulb fixture in excellent condition. The fixture takes a single Bayonet Cap (BC) bulb. A NOTE ON WIRING: This item is rewired to Australian/NZ Standard and has been tested and tagged safe for a nominal 230v system (supply of anywhere from 210-240v). Australian and New Zealand buyers must consult a registered electrician for hard wired installation or safety tag will be void. Plug and play if this item is a lamp. This light is compatible with European 220v electrical systems but wire colours may differ and correct bulbs may or may not be readily available. Please check with your bulb supplier before purchase - many are available online. Consult your electrician for hard wired installation or to change bulb sockets (or for plug change if this item is a lamp). In the US and anywhere a 110v system is in place - this light may or may not require rewiring to meet your local safety standards and correct bulbs may or may not be readily available. Please use the information provided to seek advice on compatibility from your locally registered electrician before purchase. They will be able to advise on the potential need for rewiring, bulb socket changes, or if this item is a lamp, for plug change. Before purchase, please check with your bulb supplier - many are available online. Use of LED bulbs is recommended (to prevent overheating and reduce power usage).

Rewired: Rewired with cloth cord to Australian/NZ electrical standards. Please read notes on wiring in the main body of the listing. A little surface rust on the ceiling cup. Extra grey triple flex cord supplied free if you need longer drop. Wear consistent with age and use. Very good. Glass has a few scuffs but none particularly visible. Gold painted iron wire cage has signs of very moderate wear appropriate to age. Chain and ceiling cap very good condition.
