About the Item
A rare and highly decorative late 19th-century Victorian lantern in the Arts & Crafts style, beautifully crafted with stained and textured glass panels set in a pierced and ornamented brass frame.
This unique hall lantern features:
A gilt brass structure with pierced foliate cresting and detailed repoussé decoration to the frieze
Stained and textured glass panels in deep red, amber, and frosted finishes, including cut glass with star and vine patterns
Original "Cosmos" oil lamp burner with chimney and removable brass font, housed within the lantern on a fitted cradle
Ornamental top finial with suspension ring, and floral rosettes at each corner junction
Glazed to all sides, presenting a beautiful display when lit from within

Condition:
Very good overall. All glass panels are intact and in excellent condition. The brass retains a pleasing aged patina with some light wear and minor tarnish. A few old dents to the underside of the font, as shown, which do not affect use or appearance. The lamp remains an exceptional and highly atmospheric period piece.
