20th Century, Flavio Poli for Seguso Pair of Murano Glass Wall Scones

About the Item

Flavio Poli (1900-1984) was a glass designer based in Venice, Italy. Poli joined the Seguso Vetri d'Arte company in 1934 as a design consultant. During his time at the company he worked with both Angelo and Archimede Seguso. During Poli's collaboration with Seguso, the company exhibited pieces at the 1935 Brussels Universal Exhibition, the 1936 Milan Triennale, and the 1937 Paris Universal Exposition. Some of its most impressive works, however, date back to the fifties. Recently, Poli's work was exhibited in a Seguso Vetri d'Arte exhibition at the Design Museum in Ghent. Here a wonderful Pair of Wall Sconces designed by Flavio Poli for the Bristol Hotel of Bolzano and produced by Seguso Vetri d'Arte. The structure is made of brass with linear and wavy strips of ruby-colored transparent knurled Murano glass. In very good condition, fully original. We recommend a wooden crate for shipping to prevent glass damage. The light system ca be rewired to US standards upon request.
