About the Item
Pair of wall lamps attributed to Eje Ahlgren. Produced in Sweden by Bergboms during the 1950s. High quality thick brass with perforated shades and adjustable arms. Can be used both as reading light or uplight. Original bakelite turn light switches in working order. Very good vintage condition with age related patina. Mainly oxidation to the brass and light wear to the white reflector paint on the inside of the shades.
Bergboms & Co Malmö or Bergboms for short was founded in Malmö Sweden in 1940. After WWII Begrboms specialized within lighting for home use with great success. Their most notable contribution to Swedesih mid century design was buying licenses from several at the time prolific international maker and designers. Most notably Greta Magnusson Grossman but also other well known designers as Pierre Guariche and Aldo Londi. a close relation with Swedish designers Alf Svensson and Eje Ahlgren have resulted in some of the most produced and sought after lamps during the 20th century.
