About the Item
Playfully oversize wall mounted art deco light fixture completely hand made with cut and hammered sheet brass leaves and spun aluminum bowl reflector with scalloped edge.
This lamp was salvaged within the 2000s from the Fairfax Theater, 7907 Beverly Blvd. Los Angeles, CA.
The lamp itself dates not from the original construction of the cinema in 1929 but from a slightly later incarnation, in 1947, when after an ownership reorganization Fox West Coast did some renovation work at the Fairfax which included the addition of the Skouras-style box office out front and the addition two giant golden scrolls on the organ grilles. The similarity of those designs with this sconce is unmistakable.
