Pair of Italian 17th Century Baroque Period Giltwood Roman Mirrored Sconces

About the Item

A stunning and rare pair of Italian 17th century Baroque period giltwood Roman mirrored sconces. Each two arm sconce retains its original mirror backplate framed within an elegant and most decorative mottled border and richly carved wrap around berried laurel band. The two beautiful gilt metal arms branch out from an impressive mask and are adorned with large most decorative acanthus leaves leading to foliate candle cups. At each side are charming finely detailed cherub faces amidst lovely swaging blooming flower garlands leading to the striking top crown with superb scrolled foliate movements and central mask. All original gilt throughout.
