About the Item
This palatial pair of Louis XV style wall scones exemplify the opulent aesthetic of the Louis XV period. Each sconce features a central escutcheon with shell castings and is topped by a large ornate bow with ribbon that drapes down either side. Each escutcheon produces three candle arms that curve gracefully outward with flowing acanthus leaves and scrollwork to produce intricate drip trays and candlestick lights. Beneath each escutcheon rests a finely cast bust of a putti surrounded by foliate cast bronze. The playful yet sophisticated style of these sconces is emblematic of the Louis XV style; a pair of this scale is a rare find for the discerning client.
