About the Item

Lighting manufacturer Poliarte is best known for its innovative and artistic designs that seamlessly combine functionality with flair. The brand's commitment to the idea that lighting should be a form of artistic expression as well as a source of illumination has led to the creation of strinkingly visual pieces that can best be described as works of art and not just sources of light. This single large wrought iron and hammered Murano glass sconce is exemplary of the Poliarte philosophy. Its large bands of scrolled iron are purely ornamental and not integral to the function of the sconce. The intricate metal framework holds no light element or shade. Its sole purpose is aesthetic, providing symmetry and balance to the otherwise abstract and random pattern of the glass. Italian, 1960s.
