About the Item
Pretty Postmodern Spanish Pair of White Molten Aluminium Wall Sconces by Metalarte. Model: Arqui 1273 Matt/Graphite White. These Wall Lights were designed and manufactured in Spain by Metalarte during 1990s.
“Metelarte” original sticker label still shows on structure.
A professional electrician has checked and prepared the piece to operate in US, UK and EU.
The Metalarte company was founded in 1932 in Cannoveles, Barcelona (Spain). In the 1960’s and 1970’s it renewed its catalogue and started working with external designers and companies. For instance, they sold lamps produced by Louis Poulsen from Denmark and Arteluce and Stilnovo from Italy.
Designers that worked for Metalarte are, among others: André Ricard, Enric Franch, Josep Lluscà, Estudi Blanc, Josep Aregall, Oscar and Sergi Devesa, Antoni Arola, Lievore Altherr Molina, Ricard Ferrer, George W. Hansen, Héctor Serrano, Jordi Llopis, Ana Mir, Emili Padrós, Otto Canalda and Ramón Úbeda.
Sergi Devesa i Bajet (Barcelona September 3, 1961) and Óscar Devesa i Bajet (Barcelona December 9, 1963) followed Design studies at the School of Arts and Crafts during the period 1980 – 1981. After that they went to the School of Basic Design from 1981 until 1983 and to the Elisava School of Design 1983-86, all in Barcelona.
In 1987 they formed the company D&D Design. The company created products ( furniture, office equipment, bathroom and kitchen taps, containers and packaging and of course lighting) for companies such as: Blauet, Disform, IBP – Supergrif, Grober, Dessiè, Barceluna, Oken, Seiak, Bike-Romanes, Vibea and of course Metalarte.
