About

Gorgeous high quality table or desk lamp in solid brass from Italy, 1940s-1950s with a weighted round brass base and an enormous ball joint from which the sturdy stem can pivot ~140 x 360 degrees. The round brass domed mushroom head is also attached to the stem by a similar swivel joint so you are assured being able to position this lamp to provide you optimal lighting. Inside the shade is an S cluster with two brass sockets each of which takes a standard size Edison screw cap bulb up to 100 watts each.

We actually have another that is nearly identical except it does not have the engraved line around the outer edge of the shade and base.

Push button on/off switch on the base.

Rewired and hand polished.

The underside of the shade is enameled in reflective satin off-white with a few chips and scratches we have touched up.

By request we can completely re-enamel or remove the enamel entirely so the underside of the shade is polished brass just like the top.

I believe this lamp was designed by the architect Giovanni Michelucci and produced by an Italian company called Lariolux which is still in business today.

This is a beautiful lamp that straddles the design periods of Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern.
