Alain Richard A4 Table Lamp, Ed, Disderot France, 1958
Magnificent A4 table lamp by Alain Richard, designed in 1958 for Disderot. It features a brushed steel body with a directional spotlight sliding on a stem, and a Carrara marble base. Its minimal styling, stripped of all superfluous decoration, is enhanced by simple, perfectly proportioned forms at the service of its functionality.
This purity of form, minimal and soberly elegant down to the smallest detail, is characteristic of the work of Alain Richard, recognized as one of the most talented French interior designers of his generation. Alain Richard was awarded the Grand Prix at the Milan Triennale in 1954 and Universal Exhibition and the Prix René-Gabriel in 1964.
