Antonio Attolini Lamp

About the Item

Antonio Attolini Lack Antonio Attolini (1931 – 2012) was a Mexican architect representative of an architectural style that flourished in México in the second half of the 20th century. This style had the influence from the functional and rationalist architecture happening in Europe and the US, but it was imbued by a strong regional and local character. Attolini studied in the National School of Architecture in UNAM, where he studied under José Villagrán and Francisco J. Serrano, among others. But it was perhaps his experience working in Francisco Artigas´s studio between 1952 and 1955 which had the biggest influence in his early years. Later, following his relationship with Luis Barragán, his work takes on the influences of the Mexican tradition, endowing the functional architecture with a strong cultural identity. Attollini was an aesthete before being and architect, and as such he designed furniture and decorative objects that would complete his houses all according to this aesthetic eye.
