About the Item
Pair of Continental Art Co. green fairy lamps. Vintage 1950s complete with fiberglass lamp shades. You’d be hard pressed to find a finer examples of early mid-century modern kitsch. We use the term “kitsch” with the utmost esteem, these are truly spectacular. This “his” and “hers” pair features male and female counterparts. They hit the trifecta for keen collectors. Fairies are period perfect subject, the green color is absolutely brilliant and the well preserved fiberglass shades are the cherry on the sundae. These sculptural lamps are a delight from all angles! No bit of the surface was neglected. Look closely to appreciate the details like the female fairy’s magic wand, punctuated with a twinkling star. The two lamps have a color difference. The female lamp appears to have a glaze on it that gives a yellow tint compared to the male lamp which appears as the original green. We washed both lamps. The female lamp’s yellow tint does not wipe off.
