About the Item
Pair of porcelain abat-jours by the firm Mangani Firenze.
Elegant Art Nouveau-style abat-jours in fine bronze hand-painted porcelain.
The artistic porcelains depict two nife emerging from a water flower.
Decorated with enamels in shades of blue and pure gold details.
Produced by the Florentine firm Mangani in the 1980s.
The Mangani family was already active in the late 1800s as sculptural potters with their own atelier that was closed due to the great crisis of 29'.
In the mid-1950s Alfiero Mangani together with his son Ivan opened a restoration and production workshop in Sesto Fiorentino.
The major turning point that transformed it from a family workshop to a company with more than 50 employees occurred when the U.S. company Tiffany & Co. came into possession of their work.
Noting their great quality, he commissioned thousands of pieces, thus beginning large-scale craft production and expanding the catalog.
The firm is still active under the name Giulia Mangani.
