About the Item

Large French Chinoiserie Style Gilt Bronze and Hand-Painted Porcelain Table Lamp An impressive late 19th-century French oil lamp, later converted to electricity, showcasing exquisite chinoiserie artistry. The cobalt blue porcelain body is beautifully hand-painted with vibrant, detailed scenes in the chinoiserie style, framed by ornate gilt bronze mounts. The lamp features an elaborate neoclassical-style base, intricate handles, and a finely cast gilt bronze collar. Originally designed as an oil lamp, it has been sympathetically adapted for electric use. Alternatively, it could serve as a decorative vase for artificial flowers or, with a smaller inner vessel, fresh arrangements.
