About the Item
Vintage large ceramic table lamp features cylindrical column form body with wide band accent; the lamp is decorated with glossy monochromatic black glaze and applied platinum banding. Streamlined, Art Deco inspired form of the lamp is complemented with chrome fittings and small ball finial.
The lamp is not signed, but this particular design is widely documented in multiple online sources with attribution to Pierre Cardin; it was manufactured in Italy in 1960s-1970s. The lamp is in fully operational, very good vintage condition; it was rewired and fitted with new premium nickel-plated solid brass socket. The lamp stands 22" to the top of the socket, and 29" - to the top of the finial.
Sculptural, decorative lamp with elegant form, high quality decoration, and statement piece presence will make a perfect addition to a wide range of interiors, from Traditional to Victorian, Transitional, Hollywood Regency, Glam, Grand Millennial, Collected, or Contemporary.
Provenance: The painting was acquired from the estate of Thomas Muir Wilson, the renowned photographer and graphic designer, based in Rochester, NY. Wilson worked as the designer of exhibition galleries at George Eastman House Museum of Photography in 1961-62, Art professor and instructor in Photography and Graphic Design at Minneapolis School of Art, Photography instructor at Rochester Institute of Technology, and instructor in Sculpture & Design at Nazareth College in Rochester, NY. He formed Craft World Tours, taking people on themed excursions around the globe; during his travels, he amassed a spectacular collection of amazing items from all over the world, with the emphasis on Naive and Folk Art and traditional arts and crafts, including pottery, baskets, paintings, and textiles. We will be offering multiple pieces from his highly curated collection in separate listings.

Roman Erlikh
Roman Erlikh is a professional woodworker with over 20 years’ experience. Roman Erlikh Studio creates bespoke and limited edition contemporary furniture and art objects. His first furniture collections were inspired by traditional Art Deco and Biedermeier styles interpreted through a modern lifestyle demands. Stepping away from merely utilitarian view of everyday objects, his recent collections are filled with meaningful textual context while incorporating traditional and modern woodworking techniques. Roman is using practical function as a common denominator to create emotionally charged art objects, blurring the boundary between art and function. While appreciating possibilities of ordinary materials, Roman is developing new mixed media multilayered composite varnishes and utilizes decorative gilding and mica veneer to actively engage ambient light, giving an additional aspect to relation of his objects to their environment. The decision to work in custom format was based on environmental concerns and opposition to culture of mass production and pure consumerism. The choice of materials was heavily influenced by sustainability and environmental concerns. All objects are made locally in the Brooklyn Navy Yard workshop. Elimination of storage and transportation needs for mass-produced furniture in lieu of creating a custom made objects on demand allows us to reduce waste of materials and energy.
