Pair of Antique French Neoclassical Gilt Bronze Mounted Rock Crystal Candelabras
About the Item
Each finely composed lamp is centered by a baluster-form shaft of cut rock crystal, issuing a pair of spiraled gilt bronze candle arms adorned with foliate scrolls and floral rosettes. Suspended from the scrolling arms and the central crystal support are delicately faceted rock crystal prisms and teardrops, draped in graceful rock crystal chains and mounted with flowerhead rosettes. At the top, a gilt bronze finial blooms into a trio of large faceted rock crystal spear drops, cascading with strands of oval crystal beads from the crown.
The scrolling arms rise to support single candle sockets and are accented with additional bands of spiraling faceted rock crystal drops. The richly chased gilt bronze elements frame the transparent clarity of the rock crystal, producing a striking interplay of shimmer and structure. The composition is grounded by a stepped circular base of white marble and rock crystal urn encircled by a gilt bronze band with beaded detailing.
