Pair Of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Quartzite And Ormolu Lamps
About the Item
An extremely unique and most decorative pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Quartzite and Ormolu lamps. Each lamp is supported by an Ormolu base below a square Quartzite base with a beaded edge. Above the square base is a Quartzite socle pedestal decorated by berried Ormolu vines and draping acanthus leaves. The body of each lamp is decorated with a wrap around foliate band around the base. On each side of the body are exquisitely detailed Ormolu male figures with foliate decorations in his hair. Above each male figure are Ormolu handles with acanthus leaf designs and a rosette central reserve. The neck of each lamp displays a fine Ormolu beaded band while the upper rim is decorated by a tasteful foliate band.
