About the Item
SUPERB PAIR OF DORÉ AND PATINATED BRONZE SEVEN-LIGHT CANDELABRA WITH PUTTO FIGURALS
France, circa 1870-1890
Item # 007LTX30A
An incredibly fine pair of seven-light doré and patinated bronze candelabra, both feature putto figurals with seated positions opposing one another as they cradle in their arms the cornucopia from which the lighted branches spring. The casting quality is very fine throughout, particularly the figures, both of whom feature crisp chiseling and texturing to the hair, perfectly smooth finished surfaces throughout, fine detailing to the eyes and fingernails and overall with features powerful and determined. They rest over a fluted base in the Louis XVI taste and the branches of lights are ornamented with intricate displays of foliage.
Measurements: 29 1/2" H x 14" W x 14" D (branches diameter)
Condition Report:
Previously electrified with hole for cord to reverse of cornucopia and the highest candle-well. Oxidization and discoloration to gilding. Minor handling wear to patina. Tapped and filled holes to reverse of figurals and base.

Lioness and Two Cubs
Reddish-brown patinated bronze Signed "C. VALTON" to base over foundry cachet
Item # 301HOC20P
A good early cast circa 1910 of Charles Valton's Lioness and Two Cubs, it is a beautifully detailed sand-casting with a rich red-oxide and medium-brown surface patination that highlights the texture of the surface. The two cubs sit at total peace beneath their powerful mother, her head lowered in a low growl as she likely threatens a fellow lion away from the meal of rabbit she has brought for her cubs.

Pair of French 19th Century Figurative Patinated Bronze Candelabra Lamps
By J. Pradier
Located in Vancouver, British Columbia
A beautifully cast pair of French 19th century neoclassical patinated figural bronze nine arm candelabra after a model by Jaen Jacques Pradier They are signed J. Pradier and were converted into lamps in the 20th century. Each candelabra is cast as classically draped maiden with one representing Phyrne and the other unknown, standing on a circular stepped dark green marble socle base. There are no visible foundry marks on the bronzes.
Born in Geneva in 1792 in Switzerland, Pradier was the son of a Protestant family from Toulouse. He left for Paris in 1807 to work with his elder brother, Charles-Simon Pradier, an engraver, and also attended the École des Beaux-Arts beginning in 1808. He won a Prix de Rome that enabled him to study in Rome from 1814-1818 at the Villa Médici. Pradier made his debut at the Salon in 1819 and quickly acquired a reputation as a competent artist. He studied under Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres in Paris. In 1827 he became a member of the Académie des beaux-arts and a professor at the École des Beaux-Arts.
At the Salon of 1834, Pradier's Satyr and Bacchante...
