About the Item

This handcrafted fiberglass lamp emits a soft, warm glow, creating an intimate and cozy atmosphere. Its ingenious design allows for adjustable light intensity: the shell, mounted on a hinge, can be opened or closed to modulate the illumination as desired. The raw fiberglass interior highlights the material’s authentic texture, adding an organic and sculptural dimension to the piece. Specifications: E12 socket. Dimensions: 30 cm (H) x 36 cm (W) x 15 cm (D) / 12 in (H) x 14 in (W) x 6 in (D). Condition: Light traces visible on the exterior of the shell, adding to its character and authenticity. This lamp is often attributed to André Cazenave due to its resemblance to his creations for Atelier A, such as the iconic Moon Rock. However, its true designer is Michelle Mahé, whose work within Atelier A exemplifies the era’s experimentation with materials and luminous forms. Founded in 1969 by Françoise Arnal, Atelier A was a pioneering artist collective dedicated to pushing the boundaries of design. Dissolved in 1975, it brought together renowned creators such as Arman, Ruth Francken, and Pucci De Rossi.
