Single or Pair of Midcentury Glass Table Lamps with Polished Nickeled Trim

$2,950per item

About

A pair of Midcentury reticulated glass table lamps with nickeled trim. Four heavily molded art glass panels of rectangular form create this Minimalist glass structure. Highly architectural in overall form with motif of interlacing lines in a network of grids seated on four small cube feet. The glass elements composed of extremely thick, satin frosted and clear polished art glass. Several table lamps are available. Can be purchased individually, price is per single table lamp. Wired for US standards, holds one large Edison socket, can use either incandescent or LED bulb. Can be plated a different finish for a surcharge. Due to periods of historic turmoil, many of the glass designers worked for multiple lighting manufacturers. Entire sections of countries were annexed by adjoining countries. Borders changed. Czechoslovakia was under German occupation and rule. After the war, from 1948 to 1990, it became part of the Eastern Bloc. As a socialist and satellite state of the Soviet Union, it had an economy of command where rules, production … were determined and set by the government. In 1958, Czechoslovakia exhibited in the Brussels World Fair and gained world -wide attention for using modern materials of steel, glass and plastic. The country even won the main and several other prizes for its lights. This new style of lighting became known as the Brussels style, a symbol of the golden decade of progress, reform and political liberation. But in 1968, the Warsaw Pact consisting of the Soviet Union, Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary invaded with the intention to forcibly halt the reforms. East Germany cancelled and pulled out of the pact hours before the operation. Can be used as bedroom lamps, living room, entry foyer or console lamps, night table or night lights. Original polished nickel /chrome like finish with superficial abrasions or light wear as shown in photos. In very good condition.
