About the Item

Wonderful and unique table lamp made by Swedish artist Louise Adelborg in the 1920s. The lamp base is made from glazed porcelain with handmade foliage decoration. The lamp is mounted with the original handmade pink shade. From 1915 to her death in 1971 Louise Adelborg, a former art teacher, produced decorative patterns that have always been revered by design aficionados. She first made her name with "Vase" in 1923. Then at the 1930 Stockholm Exhibition she used the same wheat-ear design – this time before the admiring gaze of an entire world – on porcelain that bore the name “Sweden’s National Service” and was later to become Swedish Grace. The lamp is signed with artist initials "L.A" on the side.

Art Nouveau Ceramics Table Lamp Hand Decorated at L. Hjort, Denmark, 1930s
By Lauritz Adolph Hjorth
Located in Odense, DK
Ceramics table lamp made at "L. Hjort", Denmark in the 1930s. The base is made from stoneware and hand decorated with fruit branches and bird motif in Art Nouveau style. Original socket mount in patinated brass. Mounted with vintage green pleated shade. Marked by maker underneath. In the 1850s at the island of Bornholm in Denmark the small terracotta factory "L. Hjort" specialized in producing terracotta earthenware items. The factory had great success internationally, and already by 1880 Hjorth's articles were sold in the big department stores of Paris, London and Berlin, and as far away as in Australia, New York and Sct. Thomas. The factory also participated in the big World Exhibitions in Altona 1869, London 1870 and 1874 as well as New Orleans 1885. One of Hjorths Fabrik's biggest successes and Denmark's first real stoneware series is the grey-brown stoneware. It is available as vases, jars, dishes, stands, tea and coffee sets, lamps, buttons, brooches, door signs...
