Large French Antique Ciel de Lit in Walnut Louis XV Style
About the Item
Large French Antique Ciel de Lit in Walnut (Louis XV Style)
This attractive ciel de lit / bed canopy / corona is carved from solid walnut with serpentine front and gently curved sides.
The magnificent central cartouche features acanthus leaves and floral decoration that continues to both corners and to the sides.
A stunning piece of deep relief carving in the Baroque style, this ciel de lit is fitted with a removable central pine ring that will accommodate fabric or drapes of your choice.
There is a stout wire fitted around the inside of the frame from which to hang your chosen material. There are five sturdy eyelets fitted for suspending it from the ceiling and two at the rear for fixing to the wall.
A rare and unique piece that will add elegance and grandeur to any bedroom.
In very good condition, the piece has been checked over, cleaned and re-polished to enhance the rich walnut finish. The piece is ready to take your upholstery.
A few historic worm holes - worm that has long since gone from this piece and has been treated purely as a precautionary measure.
