19th Century Mahogany Caribbean Pineapple Poster King Size Bed

About the Item

This elegant Caribbean mahogany bed was constructed in the 19th century. This rare West Indies Bedstead exhibits a scarce and desirable hand carved headboard and footboard framed in pierced brass inlay. The headboard is finely carved with a feathered plume crowning The Star of David with brass inlay flanked by Griffins in Vines and Fruit. The footboard is carved with a feathered plume also and is flanked by Horns of Plenty. The post are ornately carved with Tropical Leaves and crowned with finely carved pineapples in bloom. The post are adorned with brass inlay and finished with a stylized pineapple in palm leaves. The bottom of the foot has a pierced brass chuff.
