Antique Carved Oak Lit Clos Bed From Brittany France
About the Item
A Historic Lit Clos bed from Brittany France now in use as a Cupboard. The Lit Clos was the traditional Country French bed in use when one room served as kitchen, living room and bedroom allowing privacy. A tall cabinet with a carved cornice over a turned arcade of columns with a center rosette. The main cabinet with two pairs of carved sliding doors with symbols, relief carved birds below, and rosettes in the corners. Modified at an earlier time to house two shelves inside with red fabric tops. The lower cabinet with three carved doors with rosettes. With side panels and heavy block legs. Red fabric lining.

Condition: Please see detail photos. There is some expected age-related wear and scrapes to the finish, worn legs, time softened gouges and stable age cracks inside all mentioned for accuracy as the Hutch presents exceptionally well.
