Double Bed Frame in Cast Bronze by Angelo Brotto for Esperia, Italy, circa 1970
About the Item
Rare double bed model 'Consuelo' designed by the Italian artist Angelo Brotto and manufactured by Esperia, Poggibonsi (SI), circa 1970. The headboard and footboard are made in cast bronze hand sculpted bas-relief, the rest of the structure is made of bronze painted metal. The author's signature 'BROTTO' is embossed in the headboard.
Angelo Brotto (1914, Venice - 2002, Campiglia Marittima) was a Venetian designer and artist. He graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia in 1941, and during the late 40s, created pieces for the Peggy Guggenheim’s collection in Venice. Today he is best known for his lighting design collaborations with the glass manufacturer Esperia in the 1960s and 1970s. Brotto participated in many biennials and won many design and art awards during his artistic career.
