About the Item

A high quality French first empire period, circa. 1805, day bed. The bed is solid flamed mahogany raised on bun feet and straight mottled edge side boards decorated with fire gilded ormolu mounts. At each corner are mahogany columns with ormolu mounts and bottom and top finely chased caps. All with urn shaped ormolu finials and joined at each side with a solid mahogany panel. All original patina and gilt.
