Rare Italian Mid Century Bed Frame by Luigi Saccardo for Gasparello, 1970s
By Luigi Saccardo, Gasparello Arredamento Contemporaneo
Located in Conversano, IT
Elegant bed, model "Seven," in burled maple veneer, designed by Luigi Saccardo for Gasparello in the late 1970s. This piece is a refined example of Italian vintage design, combining clean lines, luxurious finishes, and a distinct architectural presence. The structure is crafted in brown-stained burled maple veneer, finished with a high-gloss lacquer that enhances the natural wood grain, lending a sophisticated and elegant look. The headboard features an extended lateral profile with integrated floating nightstands, each with black hidden drawers and functional surfaces, creating a balanced and cohesive design. Soft rounded corners and edges soften the otherwise geometric form, while the bed frame is bold yet well-proportioned, outlining the mattress area with elegance and strength. This piece accommodates a standard European mattress (160 × 190 cm). Perfect for interiors with a retro, modernist, or contemporary aesthetic, thanks to its timeless design language and premium craftsmanship. Extremely rare and currently one-of-a-kind on the market. Please note: This item is in a very good vintage condition. Minor signs of age may be present but do not affect its functionality. We kindly ask you to consider these characteristics prior to purchase. Published in Domus, June 1980, p. 43. Dimensions: Mattress size (internal): 160 cm x 190 cm (63 in x 74.8 in) Headboard: H 70 cm x W 310 cm x D 4 cm (27.6 in x 122 in x 1.6 in) Side rails: H 26 cm x W 205 cm (10.2 in x 80.7 in) Footboard: H 26 cm x W 172 cm (10.2 in x 67.7 in) Nightstands (each): L 40 cm x W 64 cm x Thickness 4 cm (15.7 in x 25.2 in x 1.6 in) Keywords: Luigi Saccardo Bed - Gasparello Furniture - 1970s Italian Design - Burled Maple Bed - Vintage Bed - Floating Nightstands Bed...
