A remarkable teak, midcentury King floating platform bed with nightstands, two storage drawers and two storage cabinets, by Sun Cabinet exceptional construction and style. Featuring a stunning pair of two tier nightstands, each with a wide surface area for placement of articles, such as, snacks, drinks and reading materials, above a spacious slide out tray and two drawers. At the foot of the bed there are two separate spacious storage drawers offering ample space for bedding. The headboard offers even more storage with two deep cabinets, with hinged lids, and generous depth, offering ample space for bedding. The wood grain is naturally highlighted in a teak pattern throughout, with a rich teak tone. Attractive classic modernist quality and design piece for the modern home. An exceedingly well-crafted bed, this piece has been very well taken care of over the years, one that will certainly make a powerful impression on a clean and modern interior décor. Condition Report: this bed is in good vintage condition, with very few signs of wear from use. Construction is strong and sturdy. The platform is in good structural condition. All pieces fit snugly together and are sturdy, some missing hardware. Bed slats are not included but can easily be ordered. This bed will come disassembled and will require 2 people to reassemble. This piece is designed and hand-crafted by yours truly in Long Beach. The bed pictured is built from walnut, but I can use other woods upon request. The design is my own, inspired by the Scandinavian furniture of the 50's (Danish/Mid Century Modern). All joinery is mortise and tenon, which means it's strong and built to last forever. The price listed here is for a queen bed (frame alone is 65" by 85"). We can make this a king or full as well. The bottom of the bed is 8 1/2 inches off the ground, and the top of the headboard is about 39 inches off the ground, and there's about 13 inches from the top of the slats to the bottom of the headboard* (see note below). The mattress rests on slats, and I can put a thin sheet of plywood over the slats to give a uniform, platform-like surface upon request (some folks prefer just the slats- depends on your mattress). It has four drawers underneath, two that slide out on each side (in the picture there are only two long drawers that slide out to either side of the bed, I have since switched to four drawers). Each drawer is approximately 6 inches tall, 29 inches wide, and 27 inches deep** My design approach on the drawers is to keep them recessed behind the edge of the bed, and to have them floating off the ground, so that visually the bed does not feel bulky like most storage beds...
