About the Item
This small locking cabinet from the early 19th century has a timeworn texture that only time can achieve. The square-corner cabinet has a streamlined design with straight sides and a minimal, burgundy-lacquer finish devoid of carvings or painted decoration.
The dark lacquer finish has beautifully aged over years of use, developing a heavily crazed texture, worn edges and a rich patina. The double-door front is accented only by rectangular brass hinges and a full moon brass lock plate, similarly aged with a dark patina and light oxidation. Ideal as a nightstand or side table, the small cabinet offers plenty of storage with a single interior shelf and a shallow lower drawer for odds and ends.
