A wonderful example of 19th-century French craftsmanship, this Louis Philippe period nightstand showcases exceptional burled yew wood veneer with richly figured grain and a warm, honeyed patina. Crafted circa 1830 near Avranches on the west coast of France, just inland from Mont-Saint-Michel, the piece reflects the understated elegance typical of the Louis Philippe style.
The rectangular paneled top features softly rounded corners and rests above a single drawer adorned with a brass ring pull. Below, a paneled cupboard door opens to reveal a shelved interior for practical bedside storage. Shaped bracket feet add a subtle flourish to the base, lending balance to the cabinet's clean and solid silhouette.
