About the Item

This pair of original and unique nightstands is crafted from lacquered maple wood. The lower section of each nightstand is enclosed by two elegantly rounded doors. These doors, fitted with brass handles, are designed to slightly extend above the glass top, creating a refined and convenient height variation. The legs, triangular in cross-section and tapering downward, feature a graceful and distinctive brass cap at the base. The linear, angular design of the legs contrasts nicely with the curved forms of the nightstands. The top is made of glass, and the light green color is not applied to the surface but is achieved by fusing the glass itself (glass paste), ensuring long-lasting and unalterable durability. The artisans treated the maple wood with traditional techniques of sanding, varnishing, and polishing, enhancing the colors, flaming, and grain of this beautiful wood. The style of the nightstands is typical of the 1950s, characterized by futuristic imagery, devoid of superfluous ornamentation, and strongly minimalist. They were handcrafted between 1950 and 1953 in Meda, in the province of Monza and Brianza, Lombardy, Italy, a region renowned for its design industry and historic handcrafted production of both classic and modern furniture. The craftsmen were inspired by the style of Italian designer Ico Parisi. Ico Parisi (Palermo 1916 - Como 1996) was one of the leading figures in 20th-century Como culture. In the early 1950s, he established friendships and collaborations with artists, designers, and architects such as Lucio Fontana, Bruno Munari, Mario Radice, and Gio Ponti. By the late 1950s, Parisi had become one of Italy's most influential furniture designers, known for his unique modern aesthetic. The nightstands are in good condition. The measurements are: width 56 cm, depth 33 cm, height 56 cm. For all our shipments, we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) to ensure maximum protection and safety of the items.
