About the Item

Small, yet insanely heavy, nightstand hand-made in Italy in the late 1700s using walnut. The little chest has beautiful proportions making it perfect for either a nightstand, a side table next to a couch or a small entryway piece. The chest features four functional inset drawers with beautiful molding on the drawer front, which give the small piece a lot of depth. Molding is also found below the top and on the base over the e baseboard. The baseboard is hand-carved on three sides and the chest sits on bracket feet. The top is made of a single, thick walnut board with hand-carved ogee edges, and was repaired at some point in the last (pictured). Overall this is a small, light and fun piece. It packs a lot of history in a tiny package and the color of the bleached walnut, with its beautiful light grey striations make it one of a kind.
