Original Painted Pine Baby Cradle Rocker, Sweden 1850-55

About the Item

This delightful baby cradle was hand-crafted by a loving family in the mid 1800's. Note each of the narrow ends with dates and monograms. The original painted finish with red/orange panels, white flowers and green leaves is also gently appealing where the paint is worn away from years of use revealing the aged pine. The faux wood brown background was the traditional folk art style of the era. This wood cradle has been restored and waxed. It is solid/structurally sound. A new base/bottom has been added. An old alteration is seen along the rockers where it was raised up. Antique cradles such as this are often used as delightful accent pieces in today's home. All scratches, cracks(visible), dings, and age related separation are reflective of age and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this pine cradle. Please refer to professional photos for clear understanding of color, condition, and details; photo lighting, individual monitor display and home lighting all impact how item is viewed. Photos are part of item description, please ask questions or request additional photos of specific areas if needed.
