Antique Double Katar Dagger with Sheath featuring Gold Damascene Embillishment

About the Item

This Indian Katar “triplex” is made from Damascus steel and consists of two split halves, which are joined into one, and invested in the Qatari sheath. This Katar features gold damascene patterns that were done by a master craftsmen of the period. The gold inlaid floral motif incorporates birds, vines, leaves, and floral blossoms with floral scrollwork. It is rare to see this level of craftsmanship and elaborate damascene decoration on such a weapon.
