About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this lovely original handmade Kenyan Turkana leather and iron bound fighting shield which has been expertly mounted to a Gillows quality hardwood and brass Regency circa 1810 pedestal base A very fine example, these rarely come off for sale, this is in 100% period original condition, it dates to the late 19th century circa 1880, as mentioned the base is circa 1810 and is in very fine Brazilian hardwood The condition is exquisite for the age, the leather has a patination to die for, this really is a very fine piece of art indeed Dimensions: Height 136cm Width 51cm Depth 45cm This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses. Condition: Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
