A rare authentic antique Late Medieval period (circa 1300-1500) European polearm two-handed battle axe (dane axe / sparth axe) probably English, Scottish or Italian. Impressive large size, forged steel head with broad blade, mounted on a long wooden haft, with beautifully aged warm rich dark patina over the whole. If only axe's could talk... this rare historical artifact would have been a devastating weapon on the battlefield and certainly not something you would want to find yourself on the receiving end of. Provenance / Acquisition: Acquired from the reputable auction house Sofe Design Auctions, Dallas, Texas.
