Tibetan lamellar iron armor
About the Item
The Tibetan lamellar iron armor with dark patina, provided with shoulders and helmet, can be traced back to the 17th-18th centuries and is in excellent condition. It belonged to a private collector, whose heirs put it up for sale.
Lamellar armor is a type of armor made of lamellae of iron, leather or other materials, joined by ties to each other.
Specifically, this armor consists of eighteen rows of lamellae that connect to the two sleeves, which in turn consist of three rows of lamellae. The helmet also has three rows of slats on the back, but the cap is composed of large shaped plates joined with wrought nails. The helmet culminates at the top with a spike with two oval ornaments.
