Bound by Period Bookbinder's, Bath, in a lovely half calf with marbled paper-covered boards.
Complete in three volumes.
One of the earliest accounts of American life and culture, with observations on a variety of important subjects, including politics, the economy, slavery, religion and marriage, and many others.
Written by English social theorist and acclaimed translator, Harriet Martineau. Known for her fervent opposition to slavery, Martineau criticised those who were involved in this through her writing.
Bound in half calf with marbled paper-covered boards. Externally, lovely, with a little fading to the spines. Endpapers have been renewed with original blanks retained. Internally, firmly bound with bright, clean pages.
