A beautifully bound set of early and first editions of the works of Alfred, Lord Tennyson. Including seven first edition works. A highly attractive set, in half morocco Zaehnsdorf bindings. Present here are: The scarce two volume 1846 fourth edition of 'Poems'. Each volume retains the original half title. The scarce 1848 second edition of 'The Princess: A Medley'. Retaining the original half title. The 1855 first edition of 'Maud, and Other Poems'. Issue undetermined, as this copy is bound without the publisher's advertisements. Retaining the original half title. The scarce 1858 eight edition of 'The Princess: A Medley'. This revised edition has significant textual revisions, with added interlude songs included by Tennyson because in his view 'I thought that the poem would explain itself, but the public did not see the drift'. Retaining the original half title. The scarce 1858 twelfth edition of 'Poems'. Retaining the original half title. The 1864 first edition of 'Enoch Arden, Etc.'. Issue undetermined, as this copy is bound without advertisements. The 1870 first edition of 'The Holy Grail, and Other Poems'. Retaining the original half title. The 1877 first edition of 'Harold, A Drama', retaining the original half title. The 1880 first edition of 'Ballads and Other Poems'. The 1886 first edition of 'Locksley Hall, Sixty Years After'. Retaining the original half title. The 1889 first edition of 'Demeter'. Retaining the original half title. In half morocco signed bindings, with cloth covered boards. Externally, excellent, with back strips just a touch age toned. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with light spotting throughout each volume, most concentrated to works published prior to 1860. A superb set of mostly first editions of the novels of R. D. Blackmore, a nice set uncommon to see of the late Victorian's writings. Fourteen works by R. D. Blackmore in thirty-five volumes. Very scarce to see Blackmore's works in a set. Smartly bound in a half morocco binding by W. J. Mansell. This smart set includes almost the complete works of Blackmore. Blackmore was one of the most famous novelists of the second half of the nineteenth century, best remember today for his 'Lorna Doone'. This set includes; 'Clara Vaughan', complete in three volumes, published in 1864. The very scarce first edition. Half-title is present to each volume. Original publisher's cloth bound in the rear of each volume. Two pages of adverts to the rear of Volume III. 'Cradock Nowell', complete in three volumes, published in 1866.
